A clear place to start when an aging parent wants to stay at home
Home Roost is an independent editorial resource for families making aging-in-place decisions. We help adult children and older adults understand home-safety concerns, compare practical options, and choose a sensible next step without turning home into a clinic.
What we do
We publish plain-language guides about fall prevention, bathroom safety, mobility, medical alerts, and whole-home planning. Our work compares product information, reputable safety guidance, costs, limitations, and trade-offs so readers can ask better questions and make more informed decisions.
Home Roost does not currently sell products directly or arrange installations. Some guides link to third-party products or services, and we may earn a commission from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to the reader.
How we work
- Dignity first. Older adults are participants in decisions about their homes, not problems to be managed.
- Plain language. We explain unfamiliar choices without fear, jargon, or condescension.
- Useful trade-offs. Recommendations should include limitations, costs, and situations where another option may fit better.
- Clear boundaries. Our guides are educational and do not replace advice from a doctor, occupational therapist, or qualified installer.
